Here are some ideas on keeping your family healthy & happy through the HOT summer months ahead…
Water is a key ingredient to keeping the body cool. With high humidity levels sweat will not evaporate quickly, preventing the body releasing heat efficiently. When temperatures go up, you and your family should increase your fluid intake. Water is best – avoid tea, coffee & alcohol.
Try to avoid direct sun exposure by staying in the shade or indoors. Especially when the sun is hottest during peak times 10am-4pm. If you do need to go out, wear a hat, apply sun-cream & don’t forget to reapply. Wearing loose clothing can also help keep you cool.
- Stay active:
We all still need to keep our bodies active despite the increasing heat. You can do this by exercising in the evening, early morning, indoors or in water. There are lots of fun ways to keep the family active together in the summer.
It is always important to maintain a good level of hygiene, and more so in the summer. Body odour and fungal infections are prevalent in warmer climates. Increase bathing for all the family and make sure you dry off fully.
Many of you will be travelling over the summer. Remember to ensure that you have all the required vaccinations or anti-malarials & don’t forget to pack insect repellant. Make sure you only drink water that is safe while you’re away. It is advisable to check with your Health Insurance Provider that you are covered internationally.
Have a great Summer!
